Aeration

Benefits of aeration:

  • Reduces maintenance required for a beautiful lawn
  • Reduces the amount of water your lawn requires
  • Increases the efficiency of fertilizer and pesticides
  • Minimizes disease, pest and weed problems

Why do you need to aerate your lawn?

Lawns need aeration to relieve the often-overlooked problem of soil compaction—a condition that prevents proper root growth, and also prevents water, oxygen, fertilizer and other nutrients from getting to the grass roots.

The aeration process is a simple solution to a variety of lawn issues. By pulling plugs of soil (approximately thumb size) from the lawn, aeration allows important nutrients to get to the lawn’s roots. When used as a part of an ongoing maintenance program, aeration helps produce a thick, lush and green lawn.

Soil-compacted Colorado lawns require at least two aeration services annually. Aeration can benefit your lawn at any time of year, but is commonly done in the spring and again in the fall.
